Denmark-based FinEdTech startup raises 4.5M to enable women to invest

Female Invest, a women-led financial EdTech platform, has raised $ 4.5 million seed rounds in partnership with New Theory Ventures, led by Green Visor Capital.

The round was also attended by Mia Wagner, CEO of Nordic Female and investor in The Lions Dane – the Danish version of Shark Tank – and Fiona Pathiraja, managing partner at Krista Gallis Ventures.

Through this round, the company aims to empower women by increasing their understanding of personal finance and investment.

Founded in 2019 by Emma Du Bitz, Camilla Falkenberg and Anna-Sophie Hartvigsen, Female Invest offers articles, resources and live webinars that will make their members feel confident about their investment. Content is designed for anyone to use regardless of background. The Copenhagen-based startup has users between the ages of 14 and 80, and many businesses, including bankers and hairdressers.

Female Invest is on a mission to educate women to invest through personal finance and integrated social media through subscription-based learning platforms. The company’s goal is to reduce the economic gender gap.

Speaking about the platform, Anna-Sophie Hartwigsen, co-founder of Female Invest, said,

“In every country in the world, women are lagging behind economically. They are earning less, saving less and then investing less – how much money they have. “

Female Investors has members in 67 countries (UK is the fastest growing market) and has an online community of over 15,000 women.

Giving more details about the company, Camilla Falkenberg, co-founder, said,

“When it comes to saving money, the internet is full of sites that give young women advice on beauty, clothes, food and how to save money on the go. Still, when it comes to making money, there is almost nothing to help. Money increases. Women’s investment fills that void. “

In December last year, Female Invest raised a seed round of DKK10M from local investors, including Wextfonden, Shailender Robin Patel, Mia Wagner and Jeppe Kristiansen. The startup’s latest fundraiser brings its total fundraising to 6.1 million.
